Injured When Out-of-Control Vehicle Slams Into Restaurant in Covina 

Thursday, August 22, 2019 (KTLA 5 News) – Two people were injured in a freak crash in Covina on Wednesday night. An SUV went plowing into the front of a restaurant, completely destroying the front of the building. Thankfully the restaurant was closed and no one was there. Police do not think drugs or alcohol played a role. An investigation is ongoing, but authorities suggested that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

South LA Hit-and-Run: LAPD Steps Up Efforts to Find Driver Who Severely Injured Teen 

Thursday, August 22, 2019 (ABC 7) – Police ask that you keep your eyes peeled for a blue Honda Accord or Honda Civic that was said to have badly injured a 15 year old boy during a hit-and-run on Aug. 6th. The teenager, Roberto Diaz, was riding his bike when he was struck on the crosswalk and dragged for several blocks. Diaz survived the careless accident, but has a lengthy recovery ahead of him. 405 Freeway Closure Near Long Beach Snarls Traffic After Big Rig Crash

Tuesday, August 20, 2019 (Los Angeles Times) – If you were unfortunate enough to be on the 405 Freeway on Tuesday morning, you may have seen the wreckage. All southbound lanes were closed for several hours after a semi-truck crashed into the center divider near the 710 Freeway. The big-rig leaked fuel, and the steel rods it was carrying littered the highway. Thankfully, CHP reported no injuries.

19-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run on Indiana Avenue in Riverside

Monday, August, 19, 2019 (KTLA 5) – Another hit and run, only this time in Riverside, CA. Sadly, in this instance the victim died as a result of his injuries. The incident happened around 8:30 PM. The victim was crossing from the south end of the street when the suspect’s vehicle struck him and killed him. Witnesses in this case described a newer model black or blue Corolla or Honda Civic. South Bay Hit-and-Run Suspect Prompts Standoff With SWAT Officers

Thursday, August 22, 2019 (10 News San Diego) – A seven-hour stand-off ended peacefully at about 4PM on Wednesday. The suspect asked to see his mother before surrendering around 9 a.m. in the Palm City neighborhood of Otay Mesa West. In a previous statement, police told 10News that the man, in his late 20s early 30s, was a suspect in a hit-and-run. The male suspect was taken into custody with no further resistance.

Booker, Garcetti Set to Participate in Gun Violence Roundtable 

Thursday, August 22, 2019 (NBC Los Angeles 4 News) – Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion in South Los Angeles with New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker. The topic at hand is gun violence. A real hot-button issue that weighs heavily on the hearts and minds of Californians, not to mention is central to Cory Booker’s Presidential Campaign run. The event will take place as slain rapper Nipsey Hussle’s co-working space Vector90. In May, Booker announced a Gun Violence Prevention Plan he said would “make it harder for people who should not have a gun to get one.”

Dwight Howard Willing to Do ‘Whatever it Takes’ For Lakers to Succeed 

Monday, August 19, 2019 (USA Today) – With great risk, comes great reward. Rumors are swirling about a potential reunion between the Lakers and Dwight Howard. Information leaked from Howard’s camp hinted that he is willing to dig deep and do some heavy lifting on behalf of the sports team. It is said that Howard is willing to do ‘whatever it takes’ to help the Lakers secure the championship. Dwight Howard is currently under contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. Although, it is highly unlikely that he will even start his season there.

4 Injured In Shooting Near Skid Row, Police Searching For Female Suspect

Thursday, August 22, 2019 (KCAL 9, CBS Los Angeles) – LAPD is looking for two suspects, one female and one a male, after four people were injured in a shooting near Skid Row. According to police and witnesses, a white SUV was seen in a park, when one of the occupants in the SUV called out and then shots were fired. “There was some sort of altercation between the occupants of that vehicle and a person inside the park. All four victims were inside of the park. What we believe to be our intended victim was struck with non-life-threatening wounds to the upper leg,” said LAPD Capt. Scott Harrelson. All four victims were taken to a local hospital and are now in stable condition. One victim was later found to be a social worker and the other a security guard.
