Much of what later decides an injury claim is settled in the three days after that ambulance ride. Three days that shape the claim

Before the ambulance leaves

Wildomar has no police force. Instead, the Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Valley Regional Station assigns deputies to Wildomar under contract, and those deputies write the reports for crashes on Bundy Canyon, Clinton Keith, Palomar and every other city street (city overview). Once a collision happens on Interstate 15 itself, or on one of its ramps, the report instead comes from Highway Patrol officers based on Commerce Center Drive in Temecula, whose Area 685 beat also includes I-215 and SR-74 (CHP Area 685).

Speed is Wildomar’s clearest danger: officers logged 27 speed-related crashes in 2023, a total that ranked 16th of 93 in the city’s OTS group, its poorest category, while total victims ranked only 55th (OTS 2023). A fast-moving car turns an ordinary right-of-way mistake into a fracture or a head injury.

• The deputy’s incident number
• Witnesses’ phone numbers
• The other car’s plate

Inside Inland Valley Medical Center

That hospital, Inland Valley Medical Center, is inside the city, a short drive from both Bundy Canyon and Clinton Keith. It is rated Level II (EMSA). Because no other designated trauma center operates in that part of the county, the hospital treats injured people from well beyond the city’s own neighborhoods.

Whatever the nurses write in that first hour becomes the baseline for your medical claim. Mention the sore neck and the headache along with the broken wrist, because an adjuster reviewing the Inland Valley chart months later will treat a missing complaint as an injury that did not exist.

Some people decline transport and feel worse the following morning. In that case, get to an urgent care or your own doctor the same day; delayed concussion and soft-tissue symptoms are common, and a one-day gap is far easier to explain than a two-week one.

An adjuster on the line

A representative of the other motorist’s insurer may reach you within a day, sometimes while you are still admitted at Inland Valley. Expect a request to record your version of events. You can say no to that recording, and waiting until the Inland Valley doctors have finished their workup costs you nothing.

Your own carrier stands in a different position. Most auto policies require prompt notice of a collision, and you may later depend on your uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, so report the basic facts to your insurer while leaving the medical details for later.

What Bundy Canyon and Clinton Keith show

From the second day on, evidence that sits in other people’s hands starts to vanish: a market’s camera loop rolls over, skid marks weather, and broken glass is swept off the shoulder. Two Wildomar locations from 2025 show why speed in gathering it matters.

Bundy Canyon Road at Harvest Way. On April 29, 2025, a car turning onto Bundy Canyon from Harvest Way was involved in a crash that killed one person and critically injured another (CBS LA). That August, at the same stop-sign intersection, a hit-and-run driver struck a 63-year-old motorcyclist and threw him into a ravine; Lake Elsinore station investigators suspected alcohol (CBS LA).

The road itself is changing. The city is widening Bundy Canyon from two lanes to four with a center median, and new signals at Sellers Road and Monte Vista Road were working by May 2023 (City of Wildomar). The transportation commission committed $3.5 million toward a $7.9 million segment running from Cherry Street to east of Oak Canyon Drive (RCTC). If a lane shift, a temporary stripe or a missing sign in the Bundy Canyon work zone played a part, the city and its contractor may share responsibility, and only your own photos are likely to show how the zone looked that week.

Watch out: At the stop-controlled side streets along Bundy Canyon, the motorist who pulled out may tell investigators the oncoming car appeared without warning. A photograph of what that driver could see from the limit line, taken the same day, is often the most persuasive answer.

Clinton Keith Road at Palomar Street. Just west of the freeway on November 24, 2025, a two-vehicle collision killed a 56-year-old woman from Murrieta. Deputies arrested the other driver, whose record included DUI convictions from 2012 and 2023, on suspicion of murder as well as driving under the influence (Patch). A prior record like that can support a claim for punitive damages in the family’s civil case.

Once the first week has passed

By day seven

By the end of the first week:

1. Ask for your collision report, from the Lake Elsinore Valley station for a city street or from Area 685 for I-15, using the incident number you were given. Expect a wait.
2. Start a folder for bills, pharmacy receipts and missed shifts.
3. If you rely on Riverside Transit Agency Routes 8 and 23 (city overview), note each ride you had to replace with a paid one, since getting around while injured is a recoverable cost.

Tip: Every pedestrian casualty on Wildomar streets in 2023, three in all, was a senior. OTS ranked Wildomar 22nd of 93 on that measure (OTS 2023). When a grandparent is the one hurt, a simple diary of the tasks they can no longer manage alone becomes valuable evidence of loss.

Dates that cannot slip

1. Six months for a written claim to the City of Wildomar, Riverside County or the Riverside Transit Agency, for example over Bundy Canyon construction or an RTA bus (Government Code §911.2)
2. Two years if a private motorist is to blame, whether the driver who rolled the Harvest Way stop sign or one who sped through a new Bundy Canyon signal (CCP §335.1)
3. Three years for your car

A finding that you were partly careless is not fatal to the claim. Under CACI 405, a jury assigns percentages, and whatever share it puts on you comes off the total.

Since a Superior Court filing rule took effect on August 1, 2026, Wildomar lawsuits seeking unlimited civil damages have been heard at the Riverside Historic Courthouse. That building is at 4050 Main Street (filing order).

Before you call

Inland Valley treated me, but my regular doctor is in another city. Does that matter?

No. Follow-up care can happen wherever you normally see a doctor; what matters is that the treatment is continuous and documented.

It can. Prior convictions and a new DUI arrest may support punitive damages, and the criminal file often supplies test results your own claim can use.
