Menifee Personal Injury Attorney
Riverside County
Menifee grew from 102,526 residents in 2020 to an estimated 118,592 in 2025, about 16% in five years (Census), and much of what people assume about crashes here dates from when it was a smaller, more rural place. The city now has its own police department, and from August 1, 2026, unlimited civil cases from Menifee ZIP codes are filed at a courthouse inside the city. Each section below takes one of those outdated assumptions and tests it against Menifee police releases, OTS rankings, a UC Berkeley study and the new court order, the way a Menifee personal injury attorney would test it for a client.
| Assumption | Reality in Menifee |
|---|---|
| Deputies investigate local crashes | Menifee PD replaced the Sheriff contract on July 1, 2020 |
| A lawsuit goes to Riverside | Menifee ZIPs 92584–92587 now file at the Menifee Justice Center |
| Pedestrian crashes are rare, so they are minor | 11 of 45 pedestrian crashes from 2018 to 2022 were fatal |
| Motorcycle risk is mostly on I-215 | A December 2024 fatal crash at Highway 74 and Menifee Road involved a motorcycle |
| Partial blame ends a claim | California reduces the award by your share instead |
| The McCall Boulevard ER handles trauma | The nearest designated trauma centers are in Wildomar and Moreno Valley |
| Two years applies to every claim | City, Caltrans and RTA claims need action within six months |
Police reports and courts
“The Sheriff will write my report”
Not for a crash on a Menifee street. The city ended its contract with the Riverside County Sheriff and launched the Menifee Police Department on July 1, 2020, after the contract was projected to climb from about $14 million to $25 million a year. Calls are dispatched through the Murrieta Police Department’s Regional Communications Center (KVCR). Fatal-collision releases, such as those for Menifee Road at Bayport Lane and for McCall Boulevard at Sherman Road, now come from Menifee PD itself (Menifee PD).
I-215 is different. News coverage of freeway crashes through Menifee, including a pedestrian killed walking on southbound I-215 south of McCall Boulevard, has named the CHP’s Temecula Area on Commerce Center Drive as the investigating agency (Patch). If you are unsure which agency responded, the card you were handed at the scene will say.
“Court is in downtown Riverside”
For most Menifee crashes, it is not. Presiding Judge Jacqueline C. Jackson signed a “where to file” order on July 15, 2026 that moves unlimited civil filings for the four Menifee ZIP codes, 92584 to 92587, to the Menifee Justice Center at 27401 Menifee Center Drive beginning August 1, 2026. The same courthouse takes filings from Temecula, Aguanga and Anza (Riverside Superior Court).
Tip: Court rules change. Before filing, confirm the current “where to file” order for the ZIP code where the crash happened, not only where you live.
Who gets hurt in Menifee
“Pedestrian crashes are rare here, so they are minor”
The first half is true. Menifee’s 2023 count was low: 10 pedestrians hurt or killed, a 61st-of-62 ranking that puts it among the safest cities its size (OTS 2023). The second half is not. A UC Berkeley SafeTREC review of 2018–2022 collision data counted 45 pedestrian crashes in Menifee that killed 11 people and seriously injured 6, so roughly one crash in four ended in a death (SafeTREC); the 2021–2022 figures are provisional.
The study flags nighttime pedestrian crashes on Murrieta Road near Melido and Scott Roads, and the city’s Local Road Safety Plan, built around 11 key intersections, proposes sidewalks, lighting, new signals and pedestrian head starts along Murrieta and Holland Roads. When a driver says you were hard to see at night on a road like Murrieta, a Menifee pedestrian accident lawyer looks at the lighting, the driver’s speed and the sight line; our pedestrian accident page explains more.
“Motorcycle crashes are a freeway problem”
Riders are hurt on surface streets too. In 2020, Menifee ranked 10th-worst of 61 similar cities for motorcyclist victims, according to OTS figures cited by SafeTREC; in 2023 it recorded 21 motorcyclists killed or injured, 21st of 62. One of the city’s recent fatal collisions, in December 2024, involved a motorcycle and several vehicles at Highway 74 and Menifee Road (Menifee PD). A Menifee motorcycle accident attorney will expect the insurer to argue that the bike was too fast to see; our motorcycle accident page explains how riders hit by left-turning drivers on Highway 74 answer that.
“Suburban streets are safe for kids on bikes”
Five cyclists under 15 were killed or injured on Menifee streets in 2023, which placed the city 17th-worst of 62 for that age group (OTS 2023). Around Menifee Valley Middle School, SafeTREC found that most bicycle crash victims were teenagers aged 14 to 17, in a study area where almost every household owns a car and no surveyed adults reported walking, biking or taking transit to work. The city’s 2020 Active Transportation Plan aims to grow its bikeway network from 16.5 miles to 183.3 miles, a measure of how much of that network was still unbuilt when the plan was adopted.
Fault and insurance
“Partial blame means I have no case”
California follows pure comparative fault, so your recovery shrinks by your percentage of responsibility instead of disappearing (CACI 405). Menifee police noted that the pedestrian killed at McCall Boulevard and Sherman Road in October 2023 was wearing non-reflective clothing (Menifee PD). An insurer will use a detail like that to argue for a larger share of fault, but it does not excuse a driver who was speeding or not watching the road.
“A drunk driver’s insurer will pay without a fight”
Drinking was a factor in crashes that left 58 people dead or hurt here in 2023. Another figure tracks young drinkers specifically: 30 victims in crashes where the driver was 21 to 34 and had been drinking, 20th-worst of 62 (OTS 2023). In a 2022 fatal crash at Bundy Canyon Road and Cottonwood Canyon Road, police found the other driver under the influence (Menifee PD). An arrest makes fault easier to prove, yet the insurer will still contest how badly you were hurt and what your future care will cost.
Watch out: The at-fault driver’s policy may be far too small for a serious injury. Check now whether your own policy includes underinsured motorist coverage, because that is often where the rest of the compensation comes from.
Enforcement money has arrived as well. Menifee PD received a $170,000 state traffic-safety grant running through September 2026 for DUI checkpoints and distracted-driving and speed enforcement (Menifee PD).
Hospitals and deadlines
“The McCall Boulevard ER is a trauma center”
Menifee Global Medical Center at 28400 McCall Boulevard runs a 24-hour emergency department, but it is not a designated trauma center (Promise Care). Riverside County’s EMS agency lists these two among its trauma centers (Riverside County EMS):
- Inland Valley Medical Center (Wildomar), a Level II adult center that receives seriously injured patients from the southwest part of the county
- RUHS Medical Center (Moreno Valley), the county hospital, with Level I status for adults and a pediatric designation
Patients first seen at Menifee Global and then sent on to Wildomar or Moreno Valley should collect both charts; the ambulance transfer itself documents how serious the injury looked to the doctors.
“I always have two years to file”
When the defendant is a private motorist, CCP §335.1 gives you two years from the date of the crash to file suit, though waiting that long rarely helps.
Public defendants are different. A dangerous signal on a City of Menifee street, a defect on an I-215 ramp or on Highway 74 maintained by Caltrans, or a crash with a Riverside Transit Agency bus each starts a six-month deadline to present a written government claim under Government Code §911.2.
Steps for the first seven days
- Get examined, even if you drove home from the scene; a same-week visit to Menifee Global’s emergency department or your own doctor links the injury to the crash.
- Hold on to the incident card from Menifee PD or the CHP Temecula Area; it carries the number you will need.
- Photograph the intersection, including lighting, crosswalks and any missing sidewalk.
- Ask nearby homes and businesses on McCall, Newport or Scott Road whether a doorbell or security camera faced the street.
- Report the crash to your own carrier, and route any call from the other side’s adjuster to your lawyer.
How Call Jacob represents Menifee clients
We represent people hurt on Menifee’s fast-growing roads, from the I-215 interchanges at McCall, Newport and Scott Road to Highway 74 and Bundy Canyon Road. On a new case, we request the Menifee PD collision report or the CHP Temecula Area report, identify every camera near the scene and calculate the government-claim deadline if a city intersection or a Caltrans ramp may have contributed.
As a Menifee car accident lawyer, The Law Offices of Jacob Emrani (Call Jacob) takes on rear-end and broadside collisions on McCall and Newport, drunk-driving and hit-and-run crashes, and motorcycle cases on Highway 74. We also represent pedestrians and young cyclists struck on Murrieta Road or near schools, bus passengers, people hurt in falls on unsafe property, dog-bite victims and families bringing wrongful death claims after a loss on these roads. If a lawsuit is needed, we file it in the court the current Riverside order requires, which for most Menifee crashes is now the justice center on Menifee Center Drive.

Questions Menifee families ask
A car hit our teenager near Menifee Valley Middle School. What now?
Get medical care, then keep the officer’s card and photograph the route your child rode. A parent brings the claim for a minor, and any settlement for a child needs a judge’s approval.
A family member died in a crash on Menifee Road. Who can bring a claim?
The people who can sue for a death are set by statute: usually the spouse or domestic partner and the children, and in some families others who depended on the person who died. Request the Menifee PD fatal-collision report early, because those investigations can take months.
A bus was involved in my crash. Does that change anything?
It may. A 2023 fatal collision at Matthews Road and Palomar Road was a head-on crash between a car and a bus (Menifee PD). Whether the bus was an RTA bus, a school bus or a private charter decides which deadline governs: six months for a public operator, two years for a private one.
Does my lawyer need an office in Menifee?
No. When you choose a Riverside County personal injury attorney, what matters is that your lawyer knows the Menifee PD, CHP Temecula and Menifee Justice Center procedures described here and can meet you where you are.
We have summarized Menifee PD releases, SafeTREC findings and the Riverside filing order as general information; this is not legal advice about a particular crash.
